Course Overview
Have you thought about a career in the creative arts? Would you like experience working with arts festivals and cultural events? Are you an artist who needs to develop their professional and business skills?
This course is geared towards students that are interested in developing their creative skills as well as gaining key business and administration skills that would assist them in entering the creative industries as arts administrators, curators, artists in a variety of setting such as museums and galleries, art centres/spaces and other cultural centres.
This award is tailored to meet the demands of the growing workforce within the creative industry such as
Arts festival administrators
Museum and gallery assistants in theatre and local arts centres
Local arts offices and museums
Administrators at a range of cultural centres such as local heritage and cultural centre
Artists, designers, curators who need to develop their business skills
This course aims to introduce key business and administration skills needed to enter the creative industries. This course also aims to develop key creative skills such as painting drawing and photography which will both enhance their knowledge of these areas as well as develop their own personal skills.
The course will offer work placements within the Five Lamps Arts Festival.
As festival Director Roisin Lonergan states
“This course fits very well into the industry needs in Arts Management and Administration. The Arts are beginning to come back to life again after Covid 19 lockdowns. In the Five Lamps Arts Festival we would give work experience to students doing this course and eventually in our business there would be work available for graduates.”
It will also host masterclasses in specialised topics within the art and invite key speakers from within the arts such as Vanessa Fielding Artistic Director, The Complex Arts Venue and Studios who also states “This will be a much-needed resource, offering students an entry into the area of arts management, making and arts entrepreneurship, that is a vibrant and developing industry”
