SEE WHAT STUDENTS SAY

“Cathal Brugha FET served as a huge stepping stone towards my dream. I went from dropping out of secondary school to completing my Level 4 at YouthReach Ashbourne to getting full distinctions in my Business Studies course at Cathal Brugha FET to getting offered a place in DCU’s Global Business (Spain) course which requires a minimum of 566 points in a traditional leaving certificate. Cathal Brugha FET were extremely helpful and accommodating. Every tutor and guidance counsellor I interacted with while attending the college were lovely people and passionate about teaching. I hated school while growing up because I didn’t feel like what I was learning was going to help me. I convinced myself for years that I wasn’t capable of achieving what I wanted to achieve and studying here I began to realise that that wasn’t the case. Cathal Brugha FET taught me skills that could actually be applicable in real life and the thing missing from my time in school was learning something that really interested me. The college gave me back my confidence and ambition and I’d recommend it to anyone who doesn’t know exactly what they want to do or they’re lacking in leaving cert points. There’s always another way to get where you want to go.”

Leon Kinsey 2023-2024

Last year after falling short of a number of points for MINT in DCU, I decided to do a Business PLC at Cathal Brugha FET. I had no business background in secondary school, but the PLC gave me a solid understanding of all business subjects. Thanks to all the great teachers, especially Ruth McCarra, I received 8 distinctions. Now, as a first-year MINT student, I use the knowledge I gained from the Business PLC daily, making the course much easier to grasp! Anna karpenko 22/23
