Course Information
This course aims to enable the learner to use the English language accurately and appropriately and gain a competence in a wide range of language skills both oral and written in a standard social, cultural and or work environment. Through this course the learner will develop English skills and build confidence in using English in everyday life, education, and employment.
This course will cover the following topics:
The customs, social and cultural courtesies and current affairs in Ireland.
Language usage in oral fluency and functional writing.
Build the vocabulary required for use in workplace, personal interest and colloquial usage.
To support the learner to develop productive skills (writing and speaking) and receptive skills (listening and reading)
To assist in developing academic and vocational language, literacy and numeracy skills.

QQI Level 5 Component Certificate in English as a Second Language (5N1632)
Duration: 20 weeks
Delivery: Blended learning 2 hours per week
October 2024 – April 2025
Note: The commencement of all courses is dependent on the registration of a sufficient number of students.
