(Pre-Medical Hospital Emergency Care Council)
Work Placement Experience (one day a week (November to May) and in block placement arranged further on in the course). Garda Vetting for work experience.
HOW WILL I LEARN?
You will have a mixture of classroom-based subjects, mandatory work placement and independent study. You will be expected to complete assignments throughout the year.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Results are based largely on assessment of assignments you hand in over the course of the year. On successful completion of each module, you will be awarded a Pass, a Merit or a Distinction grade for that module.
WHAT WE WOULD LIKE FROM YOU!
We are looking for people interested in working in partnership with others to advocate and care for individuals or groups who require support. Healthcare assistants are key members of the inter-disciplinary team which delivers care in hospitals, residential care homes and private houses. This course will give professional carers the knowledge and skills to support vulnerable adults who, for a variety of reasons, require short-term or long-term assistance.

For those interested in going to work, you will be qualified for full-time and part-time employment in nursing home settings. Or you could opt for more flexible working hours by signing on with a nursing/care agency.
ENTRY / REQUIREMENTS
Everyone in receipt of a social welfare payment is entitled to apply for the Healthcare Support course.
Students who may not have formal academic requirements but who can successfully participate on the course will be considered. (RPL Recognition of Prior Learning)
